Bellator 2012 Summer Series Returns for 2nd time tonight

Bellator returns tonight with the second installment of the Bellator Fighting Championships: 2012 Summer Series. The event is at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, Florida and will be headlined by the Bellator season six welterweight tournament final between Bryan “The Beast” Baker (18-3-0) and “Psycho” Karl Amoussou (15-4-2). The winner of the tournament will get a shot at the welterweight title.

Bellator 72 will feature the debut of former UFC and Strikeforce welterweight Paul Daley. Daley (29-12-2), will take on Rudy Bears (14-10-0) in his first fight since being released by Strikeforce. Daley has had problems making weight in the past, but had no issue this time weighing in at 170.25 pounds.

The Bellator summer series light heavyweight tournament continues with the semifinals as Tim Carpenter meets Travis Wiuff and Emanuel Newton takes on Attila Vegh. All the quarterfinal matchups at Bellator 71 ended either with a submission or TKO win, which builds the hype for the semifinals that much more.

Included on the main card is the third fight between Waachiim Spirtwolf and Marius Zaromskis. The previous two fights both ended in controversy. The first fight ended due to an accidental eye poke by Zaromskis resulting in a no contest, while a controversial cut on Spirtwolf handed him a loss in the second fight. A third meeting was set to settle the score.

On the preliminary card, Ben “Killa B” Saunders looks to get back in the win column as he is set to compete against Brian Warren in a 178 pound catchweight bout. Featherweights Shanon Slack and Matt McCook square off in the prelims including a pair of Welterweight bouts as Kenny Moss takes on Raul Amaya and Julien Williams meets Ryan DeRocher, while Jason Carapelluci faces Paul Barrow at a 150 pound catchweight bout.

The Bellator 72 preliminary card will begin at 6:30E/3:30p and is available at SPIKE.com, while the main card will be available on MTV2, EPIX Sports and SPIKE.com at 8:00E/5:00P
